When the Fire Kingdom is reduced to ashes, a girl named Ember is about to ignite a journey that even wars can’t stop. Welcome to the World of the Elementals. Once peaceful, the realm is now ravaged by jealousy, desire, anger, frustration, laziness, indolence, arrogance and rigidity. Peace has been replaced by threats of war, conspiracies and secret meetings. Can the power of the elements survive?

Building a medieval fantasy kingdom like none that’s existed on page before, Tameem brings to life worlds that will resonate with fans of George R.R. Martin. These worlds bring readers through fantastical portals that lead to danger and pulse-pounding conflict. As Tameem dissects the motivations of the characters that populate the kingdoms of Krasoria, political and sociological themes that borrow from our own world come into focus to prove that this world of magic, portals and stony kingdoms is not so far off from the one we call home. Through it all, themes of loyalty and redemption bring light to even the bleakest of realities while the coldness and desperation of war play out in Tameem’s carefully crafted kingdoms.

Find your way inside the heads of royal characters, villains and an heir setting off on a predestined journey after being removed from his rightful place as the narrative changes with each chapter. Tayma Tameem has crafted a world of royals, magic, fantasy and social commentary that is built as sturdily as castle walls.

Book 1 Elementals

Ember mysteriously survived the day the Fire Kingdom was reduced to ashes. Believing that she’s the true daughter of a peasant family, she lives a simple life in a thatched hut. Ember does her best to survive as a Water Kingdom peasant in this life — that is the only thing her memory knows.

Meanwhile, the Elders search for Briny. People from Ember’s previous life begin to show up to lead her down roads that unlock her memory.

With a backdrop of war rising all around, she eventually realizes that her destiny extends far beyond the water fields to reach the Fire Kingdom.

Elementals Elementals Descriptions

The Elemental World is divided into four kingdoms, each placed roughly at one corner with many miles of terrain separating them. The surrounding terrains differ according to each kingdom and its element. The Air and Water kingdoms overlook a massive ocean that is known to be endless, from which, the Water kingdom draws its elemental power. At the center of the world, at an equal distance from the kingdoms, there’s an Elder fort called The Heart. It is a completely secure, completely neutral meeting place. While it has many uses – housing meetings, artifacts, scrolls, and texts, etc. – it does not serve as living quarters for the Elders.

Sizes, distances, and terrains

If the map is divided into two halves, Air and Water would be on one side, and Fire and Earth would be on the other. To the left of the Water Kingdom, there would be the Fire Kingdom, and to the left of the Fire Kingdom there would be Earth, followed by Air, and back to Water domain.

Fire

Fire

The kingdom is in the shape of an irregular trapezoid, all surrounded by a fire fence. Beyond that, there is a ring of rough sand and dead earth. On the edge of the desert that separates the Fire Kingdom from the Earth Kingdom, there’s a large desert mountain partially covered with desert plants. It can be found right after the small stretch of sand and dead earth. Beyond the mountain, there’s a vast desert with many dunes, little water, and few plants. Although, there’s a flattened path to make traveling easier between the two kingdoms.

While the distance between Fire and Air is much larger because they are diagonal opposites, the Fire and Earth kingdoms are the furthest apart when it comes to kingdoms that lie on the same side of the world. While it could take an Elder like Blaze two to three hours to get from Fire to Earth (only while using his powers), it could take a whole army (on foot) up to twelve hours.

On the other hand, Fire and Water are quite close, distance-wise. After the ring of dead earth, the ground goes higher, and the terrain changes from dead earth to one that’s fairly more alive. There’s dried mud beyond the outskirts, followed by scattered greenery which quickly turns to a wild forest (where Alinta waited for Aidan during the fire) that extends vertically until one reaches the borders to the Water Kingdom. The plane around the forest is surrounded by grass patches, dried mud, and sand. It’s the most common travel route.

Between Fire and Air, there’s desert interrupted only by the Elders’ fort.

The Fire Kingdom is the smallest.

Earth

Earth

The kingdom is the second largest, right after the WaterKingdom. The kingdom is half-surrounded by rocky mountains and a vast desert. The desert separates it from civilization (the two kingdoms) and mountains from the wilderness.

The desert outside is made of smooth yellow sand and is rich with sand dunes. The palace is placed in the heart of the mountain range on the border. Within the kingdom itself, certain parts of the ground have been made cultivable by Earth folk.

The ground and mountains there are rich with minerals, mines, gemstones, and more.

Water

Water

The kingdom is lush with dense, extremely tall forests. There are lakes all around, as well as, a large main river that flows through the entire kingdom. This one originates from the snow-capped mountain tops in the Air Kingdom and flows across the terrain. In the center of the city, there’s the Water palace on a hill, at a slightly higher altitude than the rest of the city. Further from the center, the security laxes, and the social class decreases. Eventually, giving way to villages and fields, and the unexplored forests that separate the Water from the Fire Kingdom.

Between Water and Air, there’s a small space of no man’s land filled with greenery and a river that cuts through. It takes about an hour for an army to cross the borders from one kingdom to another on foot, and even shorter if they use the river. The ocean is also often used as a means of quick travel between the two kingdoms.

The Water Kingdom is the largest in size.

Air

Air

The whole of the kingdom is placed on a higher altitude than the rest. IT is surrounded by the ocean from one end, and a series of mountains from the other. Along the ocean lies the Water kingdom, and along the mountain range lies the Earth Kingdom with another large length of desert separating it from the Air kingdom.

The overall distance between the Air and Earth domains is half of that between Fire and Earth domains.

Air kingdom is slightly larger than Fire, but still significantly smaller than Water.
